The Supreme Mufti, Chairman of the Religious Administration of Kazakhstan’s Muslims Nauryzbay kazhy Taganuly and the Head of the Metropolitan District of the Russian Orthodox Church in Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, during the briefing held at the Central Communications Service, appealed to all believers to understand the conditions of the state of emergency and comply with all quarantine measures during the celebration of religious dates
“The task for all of us is to show patience during the emergency, pay great attention to cleanliness, and protect our families from the existing threat. Due to the declaration of a state of emergency in the country, as well as to prevent the spread of a pandemic during the holy month, the Religious Administration of Kazakhstan’s Muslims announces that the collective tarawih prayer will not be performed in mosques. We recommend that you read tarawih prayer at home with your family. Only in isolation will we defeat the pandemic,” said Nauryzbay kazhy.
According to him, the RAKM approved a special schedule of online sermons and lectures for the period of the state of emergency. To ensure prompt provision of answers to all questions of interest of believers, a call-center was also opened: (7172) 33-30-30.
In his speech, the Supreme Mufti recalled that the Holy month of Ramadan would begin on April 24th.
“These days, due to the necessary quarantine measures, access to temples is temporarily restricted. Unfortunately, this year the majority of parishioners will also have to celebrate Easter at home, in conditions of forced self-isolation. But let us remember: no one can take away the joy of Easter from a truly believing heart. Praying together at home, reading spiritual literature and, finally, watching the broadcasts of divine services will help us join the holiday of all holidays,” said Metropolitan Alexander.
He informed that «Channel One Eurasia» will broadcast the festive service from the Ascension Cathedral in Almaty live on Easter night. Broadcasts of Easter services from the main churches of all dioceses of Kazakhstan will also be held in the regions of the country.
It should be noted that this year the main Christian holiday - the Holy Resurrection of Christ - will be celebrated on the night of April 18-19.
During a briefing, the Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Nukezhanov, also addressed the leaders of religious associations and believers.
“Given that the state of emergency and quarantine in the country have been extended until the end of April, I ask all the leaders of religious associations and believers, as well as all our citizens, to continue observing the quarantine regime during the upcoming religious holidays,” he said.
