A video course on practical journalism will be released

With the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Khabar Agency and the University of KAZGUU named after M.S.Narikbayev signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The document will provide an opportunity to teach practical journalism to students of a new unique specialty "Journalism: Analytics and Investigations", which opened this year.  The Agency has allocated grants for free training for two applicants who scored the highest scores on the results of creative exams.

At the moment, the organizations are working on a common project to create courses for asynchronous training in the disciplines of "News Journalism" and "Investigative Journalism". In the future, the developed content will be used not only by KAZGUU students, but also by other educational institutions.

"Now we live in a rapidly changing time, where new professions appear literally on the move and they appear for a reason. And it often happens that the theory becomes obsolete much faster than a young specialist has time to apply this knowledge. Practice has shown that you get a real education at work. And this distance needs to be shortened. And in order for the graduates of the journalism faculty to have the opportunity to immediately join the professional environment, we decided to conduct an experiment and, I hope, it will give results," said Yerlan Bekkhozhin, chairman of the Khabar Agency.

Employees of the Khabar 24 TV channel and the "Investigative Journalism Department" of the Khabar TV channel will be involved in the production of training lessons. These are directors, screenwriters, editors, producers.

"The signing of the Memorandum with the Khabar Agency is an important event for our university and, we hope, for domestic journalism. KAZGUU is in a leading position among other universities in Kazakhstan, we plan to bring the training of students in journalism to the same level," said Sergey Pen, representative of KAZGUU University.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the shortage of professional personnel in the field of mass media, the level of ethics and the lack of factual analysis in the media, as well as plans to work on new advanced projects.
