Nickelodeon and TIJI will be broadcast in Kazakh in 2022

In 2021, by order of the Ministry of Information and Social Development, a large-scale project was launched to translate the world's popular children's channels with animation into Kazakh.

The project was initiated as part of the implementation of the "Rukhani Zhangyru" program and the development of children's content in the state language. It is planned to translate and broadcast at least 600 hours of dubbing on domestic cable television audio recordings of TV channels TiJi and Nickelodeon, which are in high demand among children. The broadcast is scheduled to begin in 2022.

Recall that on September 29, 2021, Minister of Information and Social Development Aida Balayeva and Director for International Distribution of the portfolio of TV channels and radio stations of Groupe M6 company Jean-Rene Okouturier (TIJI) expressed their readiness for comprehensive cooperation and implementation of joint projects, confirming their intentions to strengthen and further establish mutually beneficial relations.

It should be noted that in 2020, the Kazakhstan Institute of Social Development "Rukhani Zhangyru" carried out a sociological study "Children's Television in Kazakhstan" with a survey on the consumption of content of children's TV channels and Youtube channels in Kazakhstan. Then the number of respondents was 1200 adult respondents who have children. So, among the surveyed Kazakhstanis from the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent, many noted the popularity of TIJI and Nickelodeon channels among their preschool and school-age children.

In this regard, negotiations were initiated with the well-known children's TV channels Nickelodeon, TIJI, and in 2021 agreements were reached on the translation of their content into Kazakh.

It is worth noting that when choosing producers of children's television content, the experience of children's TV channels in the implementation of such projects and the number of broadcasting languages were taken into account. For example, the Nickelodeon channel has broadcasting experience in 70 countries in 22 languages, the TiJi channel in 20 countries in 14 languages.

The project has become one of the measures of the MISD of the Republic of Kazakhstan to expand the scope of the State language and increase the level of respect for the native language among the younger generation.

"For an easy and fluent command of the language, it is important to reproduce interesting, fascinating, informative films for children," says Ulugbek Tnaliyev, Director of the Department of Coordination of the Rukhani Zhangyru program of the MISD of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
