In Astana, the special early screening of the “Red Level” TV series was held

The presentation was attended by Chairman of National Security Committee Karim Massimov, Minister of Information and Communication Dauren Abayev, and the First Deputy Chairman of “Nur Otan” Party Maulen Ashimbayev.

The TV series’ story line is highlighting the adversarial position of intelligence agencies and the religious extremist group preparing for a terrorist attack in Almaty. The series is about national security and family values, about strong and weak people, and about real challenges faced by contemporary Kazakhstani society.

The story line is to a large extent based on the tragic occurrences that happened in recent years in Kazakhstan. The main character, an NSC investigation officer Yernar Yessengeldiyev is involved in investigating a spate of cruel crimes and unexpectedly gets on the trail of the extremist group. It is found out that the gang is compassing several terrorist attacks in Kazakhstan’s capital city. Lives of thousands civilians are at threat. Meanwhile, a crisis has long had been in major Yessengeldiyev’s personal life. And in the most acute point of the story, he faces a shocking treachery.

The “Red Level” authors had not set themselves the task of shooting just a detective series. The picture touches upon a very sensitive, hot-button issue of religious extremism which is at the same time the topic of interest to Kazakhstani public. What are the causes of the bleak events that occurred in Kazakhstan in recent years? Who protects Kazakhstanis against the terrorist threat and how can a person avoid becoming a backboneless instrument in the string-pullers’ hands? Is there still a way back possible even if you have made a terrible mistake?

The first performance of the “Red Level” TV series will take place at “KTK” TV channel on March 31 – April 1, 2018.

Starring in the film are the popular Kazakhstani actors: Berik Aitzhanov,  Tauyekel Muslim, Philip Voloshin, Nyshanbek Zhubanayev, and others.

The film was directed by a Russian director Valery Myznikov known by his work at such serials as “Dead Duck” and “Signs of Fate”.

The “Red Level” TV series was shot on order from Ministry of Information and Communications by “KTK” TV channel in collaboration with “STRANA Media Team” Production Center.

In 2017, on order by Ministry of Information and Communications, about 40 TV series were shot, which touch upon the most important social phenomena in Kazakhstani society, and also 131 social videos. These measures help reduce the domestic TV channels’ dependence on foreign media content and develop the country’s cinema industry.
