It is important to use the potential of NGOs to solve issues of the population - A.Balayeva

November 10, 2021, Nur-Sultan.

An online meeting of the Coordinating Council for Interaction with NGOs was held under the chairmanship of the Minister of Information and Social Development Aida Balayeva.

The agenda of the meeting is devoted to improving cooperation in solving urgent problems of social protection of the population, environmental protection and ecology.

Thus, during the meeting, the participants of the Co-Council touched upon the issues of developing effective approaches to solving urgent problems of the population, attracting the potential of NGOs in the implementation of priority tasks by public authorities, strengthening the role of civil society organizations in the implementation of social initiatives, and other issues.

The format of the meeting was based on the principle of "Public authority - NGO", where information from government agencies was heard with a counter report from NGO representatives.

In her speech, the Minister noted the relevance of using the potential of NGOs in the regions to organize comprehensive work to address important issues of interest to the population. A.Balayeva paid special attention to the importance of information work to improve the effectiveness of NGOs.

The report was made by the President of the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan, Banu Nurgaziyeva, in which she noted: "We see that the recommendations of the meeting of the Coordinating Council, which took place in May of this year, were not ignored by both the MISd and other government agencies, including a number of regions. They are being adopted and are already being actively used. However, there are still unresolved issues, and it is the Coordinating Council that should continue to be an effective platform for voicing urgent problems and finding ways to solve them. It is important to raise all these issues at the upcoming 10th Civic Forum, where the first heads of many government authorities and NGO leaders will participate."

The main speakers were the head of the Association of Women with Disabilities "Shyrak" L.Kaltayeva, the chairman of the Civil Alliance of Pavlodar region S.Mogilyuk, as well as representatives of public authorities.

Public figure Aigul Solovyova expressed her opinion about the work being carried out: "According to my observations, earlier international organizations preferred to work directly with individual Kazakhstani NGOs. Now, it should be noted, the Ministry of Information and Social Development itself is open to cooperation with them on important public issues. This is a clear evidence of increasing confidence in the ongoing work in the field of interaction with non-governmental organizations."

Following the meeting, the Council participants made appropriate recommendations to the deputy akims of the regions, Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent to expand the representation of NGOs in solving regional issues. In turn, the state authorities have taken into account the comments and problematic issues from the non-governmental sector.

For reference:

Over the past 4 years, the Co-Council has developed 136 recommendations, 102 of which have been implemented, 34 recommendations are long-term.

The recommendations of the Co-Council give a significant impetus to the development of partnership between the state and the third sector and the transition of their cooperation to a new format.
