Minister Abayev told about the plans for implementing the Message

Minister of Information and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan Dauren Abayev told about the fulfilment of goals specified by Head of State in his Message to nation titled “The Third Modernization of Kazakhstan: Global Competitiveness”, and also shared the plans for the current year.

According to him, Ministry is currently working intensively at the “Digital Kazakhstan” Program. They are planning to introduce the draft Program to Government for consideration in May this year.

He also informed that Ministry had started implementing the project for covering about one thousand three hundred villages with fiber optic lines, which would allow providing more than 2 million people with broadband Internet access. The Project is to be implemented before 2020 within the public-private partnership.

Furthermore, the global-scale international EXPO-2017 exhibition will be held in Astana this year. Pursuant to President’s instruction, one of the facilities will be used after the exhibition end for establishing the international technology park of IT startups.

This year, Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with government agencies will pass the public services to Public Corporation to maximum extent. Before the year-end 2017, the share of services rendered via the Public Corporation is to be enlarged to 85 %.

For widespread coverage of the public with services, the pilot project for public services delivery is to be launched in the 1^st quarter this year via the rural KazPost offices that amount to over 2 thousand throughout the country.
