Proposals will be collected for the implementation of civil initiatives in rural areas

Today on October 1 at the site of the Civil Initiatives Support Center, chaired by Vice-Minister of Information and Social Development Bolat Tlepov, a discussion platform was held to discuss the Message of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan with representatives of rural NGOs.

"As part of the implementation of the Message of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Ministry of Information and Social Development is developing a mechanism to support civil initiatives in rural areas through simplification of the grant financing system, as a result of which rural NGOs will receive a good impetus for social activity in rural areas," the Vice Minister said.

The Chairman of the Board of Civil Initiatives Support Center Lima Dias spoke about the activities of the Center in the field of support of rural initiatives. Thus, in 2020 the Center implemented a project to support rural initiatives in 14 regions, within the framework of which 14 operators were identified in the person of regional NGOs and 140 mini-grants of 500 thousand tenge were provided for the implementation of social ideas and projects for rural NGOs and initiative groups.

"This year 92 small grants are being implemented in rural areas in the amount of 44 million tenge. For example, under the project "Organization of a set of measures aimed at the development of civic initiatives in rural areas, which is implemented by the NGO Association of Aktobe region, 60 small grants of 500 thousand tenge were awarded in 13 regions of our country," L. Dias noted.

Aigul Dyusenova, Chairman of «The Association of Non-Governmental Organizations of Aktobe Region», noted the importance for rural residents and rural NGOs of organizing work on the ground, thanks to which they were able to centrally receive qualified assistance and support for their initiatives.

Representatives of rural NGOs and members of initiative groups participating in the discussion platform expressed confidence that the new mechanism being developed to support civil initiatives in rural areas will help the development of rural NGOs.

Following the results of the event, it was decided that the Association of Non-Governmental Organizations of the Aktobe region, together with the Civil Initiatives Support Center, will collect proposals from representatives of rural NGOs and initiative groups to further improve the mechanism for supporting civil initiatives on the ground.
