Webinar with the Minister dedicated to the International Day of Universal Access to Information

Today, on September 28, with the participation of Minister Aida Balayeva, a webinar was held in Kazakh for authorized persons on access to information of the public authorities of the Turkestan region.

The event was organized by the UNESCO Cluster Office with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the International Day of Universal Access to Information on the topic: «The right to know – improving people's lives through access to information».

During the seminar, A. Balayeva noted: «Access to information affects almost all spheres of life today. Its importance during the pandemic was especially evident. Therefore, our main task is to identify topical issues in time and provide the society with full information».

It should be noted that today in Kazakhstan, authorized persons (divisions) on access to information have been identified in all public authorities in accordance with the innovations introduced in the Law «On Access to Information» at the end of 2020.

«Of course, identifying authorized persons in this area is half the battle. It is necessary to organize systematic and high-quality work in this direction-to constantly train them and improve their skills and competencies,» A. Balayeva noted.

The webinar is aimed at training civil servants on the issues of proactive publication of information by public authorities (without waiting for citizens' requests) and ensuring compliance with the Law «On Access to Information».

For reference: The webinar is the second in Kazakhstan. Earlier, in November 2020, it was held in the city of Nursultan.
