The status of the project on the prevention of Internet addiction and gambling among young people and children

On August 26 of this year an online press conference was held on the progress of the project «Development and implementation of a set of measures to prevent Internet addiction and gambling among young people and children».

The online press conference was attended by Chairman of the Committee on Youth and Family Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Shakhmardan Baymanov, Head of the Unified Children's and Youth Organization «Zhas Ulan» Dinara Sadvakassova, experts and representatives of regional youth organizations.

The speakers informed the media and experts about the ongoing work on the analysis of international legislation in the field of prevention of Internet addiction and gambling among young people and children; meetings of focus groups to identify cyberbullying, online addiction and gambling addiction; the work of Telegram channels created in each region to identify the facts of cyberbullying, gambling propaganda.

During the project implementation period more than 1 thousand young people from 17 regions were trained in the prevention of Internet addiction, cyberbullying and gambling addiction.

As a result of the project it is planned to prepare an analytical report on the prevention of Internet addiction, gambling and cyberbullying among young people and children, including the development of specific recommendations for improving Kazakhstan's legislation in this area.
