Where to go in case of domestic violence in Kazakhstan

Since the beginning of the year, the hotline at 150 has received over 2,300 calls from victims of domestic violence.

ALE "Union of Crisis Centers" within the framework of the state grant NJSC "Center for Support of Civil Initiatives" with the assistance of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan is implementing a social project "Organization of a set of measures to improve the activities of crisis centers for victims of domestic violence and work with aggressors."

In Kazakhstan, the problem of domestic violence is aggravated by the fact that people do not want it to become the object of open public discussion. From the report submitted by the Union of Crisis Centers, the hotline at number 150 received more than 2,300 calls from victims of domestic violence in March-September this year alone.
For the first time in our country, a social project in this direction is being implemented with the involvement of German specialists.

“The project provides for the correction of aggressive behavior and views on violence through counseling and training for aggressors and married couples, including special techniques. In addition, the union has developed special instructions for psychologists and psychotherapists in Kazakh and Russian. Currently, the office "Family Service for Domestic Violence" in Almaty has 4 full-time employees, including psychologists and psychotherapists for face-to-face counseling. Also, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the local police service of the Police Department of Almaty and the Association of Legal Entities "Union of Crisis Centers", - said the head of the ALE "Union of Crisis Centers" Zulfiya Baysakova.

According to the expert, unfortunately, today the number of people seeking protection and assistance is not decreasing.
Therefore, Kazakhstanis experiencing a difficult life situation can call 150 from anywhere in our country around the clock, free of charge and anonymously.
