An awards ceremony for the first national AI Governance Cup competition was held in Astana at the alem.ai centre. The final of the project, which launched in March of this year, took place with the participation of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, underscoring the strategic significance of the country's AI transformation.
A total of 184 applications were submitted from government agencies, quasi-public sector organisations, and akimats. The evaluation panel included Kazakhstani and international experts, among them members of the AI Development Council under the President of Kazakhstan. The competition was given particular distinction by the participation of two global experts: Kai-Fu Lee, founder of Sinovation Ventures, and Professor Peter Norvig of Stanford University. Their involvement provided a high-quality external assessment of the potential of the presented developments.
Following the selection process, winners were identified in six categories, all demonstrating readiness for scale-up and genuine social impact.
In the "AI Azamattarğa Qyzmet" category, the winning project was the Karaganda Regional Akimat's "Digital Resuscitation" - a system for the intelligent collection and real-time analysis of data from medical equipment.
In the "AI Ekonomika" category, the winner was the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition of Kazakhstan with its "AI-Internal Audit" system — a data analysis system that improves the accuracy of management decisions and contributes to more transparent market regulation.
The Astana City Akimat received the award in the "AI Áleumettik Sayasat" category for an AI-based medical examination platform that reduced the time required for medical commissions for military conscripts and service personnel by 75%.
In the "AI Qauipsizdik" safety category, the leader was the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan with the "TOR" platform — a unified national digital road safety platform using computer vision with 30,000 cameras.
The Akmola Regional Akimat with its "Smart Aqmola" system — an intelligent regional management platform providing monitoring of key indicators, real-time risk identification, and data-driven decision-making — was recognised as the best in the "AI Öñir" category.
In the quasi-public sector, the "AI Kvazisektor" category was won by KEGOC JSC for its intelligent national energy consumption forecasting project, "National Intelligent Energy System AI.KEGOC".
The AI Governance Cup has served as a foundation for the exchange of best practices, enabling successful cases to be replicated across the country and creating a sustainable ecosystem in which advanced technologies serve the interests of every citizen.
The competition was organised by the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development and the Agency for Civil Service Affairs.
