The Unique Teacher-Free IT School Tomorrow School Scales Across the Country

At the alem.ai International Artificial Intelligence Centre, with the participation of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev via a video link, the nationwide scaling of Tomorrow School across the regions of Kazakhstan was officially launched.

Tomorrow School — the country's first peer-to-peer school in programming and artificial intelligence — is being rolled out as an innovative educational initiative across Kazakhstan. The expansion of the school network is being carried out in fulfilment of the Head of State's instructions within the Year of Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence.

Tomorrow School is implemented by Alem.ai Foundation within the Astana Hub and alem.ai ecosystem, on the basis of the international 01 Edu platform developed by Nicolas Sadirac — an innovator in IT education. Campuses are currently being prepared for launch in the Pavlodar, Akmola, Kostanay, West Kazakhstan, Turkestan, East Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Atyrau, Aktobe, Kyzylorda, and Zhambyl regions, Abai Region, and the city of Shymkent. By the end of the year, the project will be scaled to all regions of the country.

"The scaling of Tomorrow School is an investment in the human capital of the next generation and a step towards Kazakhstan becoming a technology nation. At the Head of State's instruction, we are building an ecosystem in the regions where talent can develop regardless of where people live. Our goal is to create a critical mass of specialists capable of developing breakthrough solutions. By investing in such innovative learning formats, we are laying the foundation for a knowledge economy where intellect and technology become the country's primary resource and the driver of our global competitiveness," noted Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev.

The scaling model is based on collaborative effort: Alem.ai Foundation develops the educational platform and methodology, while the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, Astana Hub branches, and local executive bodies provide infrastructure and operational support. This enables the project to be organically integrated into local ecosystems and accelerates the development of skilled professionals in the regions.

"The opening of Tomorrow School across the country is an important step in developing IT and AI talent. The initiative has been running from the Astana Hub base since 2024 and has already delivered results: a strong IT community has formed, participants are launching startups, winning competitions, and receiving offers from international companies while still studying. Our task is to make these opportunities accessible to everyone, reduce the digital divide, and develop a new generation of specialists for the digital economy," stressed Magzhan Madiyev, CEO of Astana Hub.

Tomorrow School's educational model differs markedly from conventional formats. The school has no teachers and no traditional lectures — learning is built on a peer-to-peer principle, where participants serve simultaneously as students and mentors. This approach develops independent thinking, teamwork, and accountability for results. Education is entirely free of charge and open to all citizens aged 18 and over, including those beginning their journey in IT from scratch. To date, Tomorrow School has attracted significant interest: 21,618 applications have been submitted, 12 selection rounds have been held, and 418 students are currently enrolled in the main course in Astana.

The programme covers the full training cycle for an IT specialist — from foundational skills to professional specialisation. Over 18 months, participants complete more than 50 practical projects and master up to 20 programming languages, including Python, JavaScript, Golang, and Rust. The curriculum integrates key areas of artificial intelligence — machine learning and deep learning, data analysis, and computer vision — and concludes with the choice of a specialisation, from AI engineer to cybersecurity specialist.

The scaling of Tomorrow School is building a sustainable system for training IT and AI specialists in the regions, expanding access to modern education, and contributing to the development of local technology communities, reinforcing the systematic work on human capital development.
