The development of the capital's intelligent urban management system is continuing: in line with the Head of State's instructions on digitalisation and public safety, the Astana Smart City project is introducing expanded AI video analytics functionality to detect a wider range of road traffic violations.
The new algorithms automatically identify a broader spectrum of violations, including mobile device use while driving, unfastened seatbelts, and other factors affecting road safety. At present, violations are being recorded in test mode. The solutions are based on computer vision and machine learning technologies, delivering high analytical accuracy and rapid response.
Unlike conventional systems, the new AI cameras are not limited to detecting individual violations — they form part of a unified digital platform integrated with urban and government information systems. This enables a comprehensive picture of the road situation to be built and improves the efficiency of traffic flow management.
Particular attention within the project is given to compliance with the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of information security. The system is undergoing the necessary certification procedures and is being deployed in stages.
The implementation of these solutions is aimed at reducing accident rates, improving the discipline of road users, and creating a more comfortable urban environment for residents.
