“We have endured hunger, poverty, and repression. Since childhood, we heard about the Winter War, and we lived through the Great Patriotic War ourselves. So I can say that we have seen a lot. But more than anything, I want today’s generation never to experience what we went through. Thank you so much for remembering and visiting,” said the veteran.
Rzagul Baykeshev was born on November 18, 1923, in the Mugalzhar District of Aktobe Region. At the age of 17, he was drafted into the Armed Forces. He took part in battles in the Kalinin Region, near the cities of Ryzhov and Veliky Lug. He contributed to the liberation of Poland, Romania, and Hungary. While on the front lines, he was awarded the rank of Corporal.
For his courage and heroism, he was honored with the Order of the Patriotic War (1st and 2nd Class) and the Marshal G.K. Zhukov Medal.
