The National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in cooperation with the Agency for Financial Monitoring (AFM), has launched a new project aimed at strengthening measures to counter financial pyramids.
The project seeks to raise awareness among military personnel about the risks of illegal financial schemes and to prevent the spread of fraudulent structures.
As part of this initiative, a meeting was held at the National Guard Headquarters between servicemen and Andrey Davydov, Head of AFM’s Prevention Department, and Darkhan Kusainov, a specialist from the AML Academy.
They provided detailed insights on how to recognize a financial pyramid, why it is important to carefully verify any investment offers, and how every citizen can check a suspicious project through the official Telegram bot "Baiqa, piramida". The experts also shared examples of suspicious job offers, which could indicate recruitment of money mules, and analyzed common phishing and vishing schemes used to steal personal data and funds.
"Together with the National Guard, we aim to improve the financial literacy of military personnel and warn them about potential risks. In the future, we plan to conduct similar events not only at the Headquarters but also in regional commands so that as many servicemen as possible receive the necessary knowledge and can protect themselves and their families from fraudulent schemes," said Andrey Davydov, Head of the AFM Prevention Department.
The organizers intend to expand efforts in this direction. AFM officers will hold similar meetings with National Guard servicemen in all regional commands.
To enhance prevention efforts, both sides have agreed to involve unit educators in spreading crucial information to every soldier.
National Guard members emphasized that cooperation with AFM will improve response to financial fraud threats and increase the financial literacy of servicemen.
It is worth noting that the launch of this project is yet another step in the systematic efforts of state agencies to ensure economic stability and national security.
