A Hero from Semey Joins the Ranks of the National Guard

The name Dias Tañirbergenov is well known to residents of the city of Semey. On April 11 last year, the young man displayed courage and selflessness during a fire in a multi-apartment residential building, rescuing a neighbor from an apartment engulfed in flames. For his bravery, he was awarded the medal of the Ministry for Emergency Situations “For Courage Shown in a Fire”.

“During the fire, I heard cries for help. I immediately thought of my neighbor, who had recently suffered a stroke and was in a helpless condition. After soaking my T-shirt with water and covering my mouth and nose, I entered the thick black smoke and brought him out of the apartment. Then I tried to extinguish the fire by connecting a hose to the outdoor water supply, but due to low water pressure it was impossible. Firefighters soon arrived and completely put out the fire,” — recalls Private Dias Tañirbergenov.

Recently, the hero from Semey was drafted into the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He is currently performing compulsory military service in military unit 3514, stationed in the city of Kurchatov.

Dias has long established himself as a responsible and socially conscious young man. In the ranks of the law enforcement forces ensuring public safety and citizens’ peace, he intends to further develop vigilance and improve his professional skills.

The young serviceman leads an active lifestyle and plans, during his service, to enhance his physical fitness, master military discipline, and develop combat skills. His fellow servicemen take pride in serving alongside a person whose courage has received wide public recognition.

“I believe that the basis of Dias’s heroic act lies in his sincere care for people. Despite the suffocating smoke, he first and foremost thought about the safety of his neighbors. It is a great honor for us to serve alongside such a reliable and brave comrade, someone you can rely on in any situation,” — noted Private Dias Tusupov.

In the military unit where Dias serves, about 40 conscript servicemen are responsible for guarding strategically important state facilities. Currently, the recruits are undergoing the basic soldier training course, after which the military oath ceremony will take place.
