Every citizen can obtain legal advice from the Constitutional Court

Since November 2023, the Center for Reception of Citizens' Appeals has been functioning at the Constitutional Court. As the situation clearly shows, there are enough citizens willing to appeal to the Constitutional Court for the protection of their rights. However, more than 90% of the issues raised by citizens do not meet the conditions of admissibility for constitutional review or, in other words, their consideration is not within the competence of the Constitutional Court, they should be considered in courts of general or special jurisdiction or addressed to other executive bodies. Therefore, it is reasonable that, after receiving the relevant reply with clarification from the Constitutional Court, citizens still have questions related to the need to receive legal advice on further actions to protect their rights or to obtain detailed legal information on the conditions of admissibility of appeal to the Constitutional Court.

In this regard, agreements were reached between the Apparatus of the Constitutional Court, the Republican Collegium of Legal Advisers and the Astana Chamber of Legal Advisers to provide free comprehensive legal assistance to citizens on the basis of the Center.

To date, the staff of the Office of the Constitutional Court has independently and jointly with lawyers and legal consultants provided legal advice to more than a thousand citizens.
