Judges discussed with senators the implementation of Constitutional Court decisions

The Constitutional Court hosted a dialog meeting of judges with a group of deputies of the Senate headed by the Deputy Speaker of the Chamber Zhakip Asanov. The subject of the meeting was the discussion of the interaction between the Constitutional Court and the Parliament in the issues of current legal monitoring of legislation and effective rulemaking.

Chairman of the Constitutional Court Elvira Azimova familiarized the senators with the results of the activities of the constitutional control body reconstituted in January last year. It was noted that since its launch it has received more than 6.7 thousand appeals and issued 42 normative resolutions.

During the meeting, the judges told the deputies in detail about some of the completed cases in which they acted as rapporteurs. In particular, they drew the legislators' attention to the legal positions of the Constitutional Court in the decisions on the interpretation of constitutional norms on the inviolability of the home, on the constitutionality of certain norms of criminal legislation, legislation in the spheres of public service, judicial system and social protection of citizens.

The judges emphasized the importance of implementing the normative rulings of the Constitutional Court to ensure the supremacy of the Constitution. It was emphasized that after the constitutional review, the Constitutional Court recommended to amend 32 normative legal acts, of which 5 have already been implemented, 3 have been partially implemented, and the rest are in the process of implementation.

Finally, the parties agreed to hold such meetings on a regular basis in order to maintain an open dialog between the Constitutional Court and the legislative branch, which in the long term will lead to further improvement of legislation in the country.
