The Constitutional Court hosted a meeting with a professor of criminal law from Leiden University

The Constitutional Court hosted a Workshop meeting entitled "Fair Trial. Criminal Law in a Global Risk Society" with the participation of Professor Pinar Olcher of Leiden University. The event was attended by judges and analysts of the Constitutional Court, as well as representatives of state bodies and departmental academies and universities in Astana. The event was organized with the support of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Nicolaas Jacob Schemers.

Mr. Pinar Olcher is the author of scientific research in the field of criminal law and litigation. During the meeting, a discussion was held on the issues of guarantees of victims' rights, access to qualified legal assistance and compliance with the presumption of innocence, application of coercive measures in criminal proceedings.
