The Congress was attended by delegations of constitutional courts and equivalent institutions from more than 90 countries of the world. At the opening ceremony of the event, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo, delivered a welcoming speech.

The congress consisted of four sessions devoted to the role of the Constitution and constitutional courts in maintaining social peace in society, protecting human rights and ensuring the rule of law.

Kairat Mami moderated the session "Application", which considered the implementation of the constitutional provisions that underlie public consent.

Opening the meeting, Kairat Mami noted that strengthening constitutionalism and strengthening the principles of the rule of law is a guarantee of peace, harmony and progressive development of the state. The activities of the constitutional review bodies are connected with the identification of contradictions and gaps in the legislation and the practice of its application, which are potential causes of violation of civil peace.

The forum participants discussed the issues of interpretation by the constitutional justice bodies of the constitution’s provisions relating to peace, settlement of social and other conflicts, as well as issues of the activities of constitutional courts.

At the General Assembly of the WCCJ, which unites representatives of 119 countries, new members of the Bureau were elected, a report on its activities and the amounts of financial contributions from states were approved.

Within the framework of the Congress, Mr. Schnutz Dürr, Secretary General of the WCCJ, presented the database of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.
