THE PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT OF KOREA CONGRATULATED ON THE CONSTITUTION DAY AND THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE REPUBLIC'S INDEPENDENCE

The President of the Constitutional Court of Korea Mr. Namseok Yoo sent his congratulations on the occasion of the Constitution Day and the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, noting the strenuous efforts of the Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan and Chairman Kairat Mami to promote democracy, the rule of law and human rights in Kazakhstan. Mr. Namseok Yoo noted that while constitutions take different forms in different Asian countries, representing the diversity of cultures and traditions unique to each country in the region, they all share the common objective of guaranteeing fundamental rights of their citizens and establishing fundamental principles of state governance. This makes the role of our AACC member institutions particularly important as the guardian of the Constitution. In rapidly-changing national and international environment, we remain steadfast in assuring constitutional principles and values - emphasized Namseok Yoo.

“Besides, promoting human rights in Asia is the common task that requires all AACC member institutions to work together. Based on the spirit of solidarity and cooperation demonstrated by our member institutions, I believe more attention should be paid to discussing and developing common human rights standards in Asia and regional human rights protecting systems encompassing Asia,” the President concluded.

In conclusion, Namseok Yoo expressed deep gratitude for the leadership demonstrated by the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan to ensure the uninterrupted convening of the AACC Congress amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and sincerely thanked for providing once again a forum for cooperation among Asian constitutional justice institutions.
