OF AFRICA

M. Medelci is a prominent politician who for many years served in the Government of Algeria as Minister of Trade, Finance and Foreign Affairs. He is Chairman of the Constitutional Council of Algeria since 2013.

Honorable guest arrived in Astana to participate in an International conference dedicated to the Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The subject of the discussions of chairmen of Constitutional Councils of Kazakhstan and Algeria was the issues of ensuring the supremacy of the Constitution, the mechanisms of interaction of branches of power in this process, national and international instruments for protecting human rights and freedoms and strengthening the regime of constitutional legality.

Within the framework of the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Conference of Constitutional Control Organs of the Countries of New Democracy and the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa.

The African Association unites the organs of the constitutional jurisdictions of the region with an aim to promote and disseminate universal values and principles of the Rule of Law, democracy and human rights.

The concluded Memorandum supposes the deepening of cooperation between the mentioned associations, the exchange of ideas, experience and information related to the constitutional review, the joint conduct of legal research on constitutional control issues, mutual visits, the exchange of technologies (techniques) and others.
