The Constitutional Court has accepted for constitutional proceedings a petition seeking review of the constitutionality of the first part of Article 50 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The applicant considers that imposing a lifetime ban on a person who is not a civil servant and does not meet the criteria of a special subject of a corruption offence may violate the principles of fairness, proportionality and individualization of liability, as well as restrict the right to work and the right to freely choose a profession or occupation.
The outcome of the proceedings will be published on the official website and Telegram channel of the Constitutional Court.
