Chairperson of the Constitutional Court met with the Ambassador for Human Rights of France

Chairperson of the Constitutional Court Elvira Azimova met with Isabelle Lonvis-Rome, Ambassador for Human Rights of the French Republic. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Kazakhstan, Sylvain Guiaugue, also took part in the meeting.

Elvira Azimova informed the Ambassador about the legal status and activities of the Constitutional Court of Kazakhstan and spoke about the legal reforms carried out in Kazakhstan as part of the 2022 constitutional reform. She emphasized that the expansion of constitutional review powers, as well as granting citizens and the Commissioner for Human Rights the right to request the verification of laws for compliance with the Constitution, demonstrates the humanistic and human rights–oriented nature of the 2022 constitutional reform.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness to exchange experience in ensuring legal protection of human rights and upholding the supremacy of the Constitution.
