FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR, 943 KAZAKHSTANIANS HAVE RECORDED ADVERSE REACTIONS TO MEDICINAL PREPARATIONS

The development of modern pharmacology and the widespread use of new drugs have not only expanded treatment options, but also increased the risk of adverse drug reactions in patients. So, for 8 months of 2020, 943 reports of side effects of drugs were registered in Kazakhstan. The largest number of complaints came from Almaty city - 14.2%, Pavlodar region - 13.7%, Aktobe cities - 10% and Shymkent - 9.1%.

Note that the National Center for Expertise of Medicines and Medical Devices KKKKiBTU of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NCELS), in addition to the expertise of medical products, is engaged in tracking the side effects of drugs that have entered the market.

All messages from the population and medical organizations are carefully analyzed. All factors that have caused a serious adverse reaction are checked, drug samples are seized and laboratory tests are carried out in specialized centers of the NECELS. Based on the results of the examination, the Center issues an opinion to the Committee for Quality Control and Safety of Goods and Services of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan for making further decisions on the suspension or termination of the registration certificate of the drug. The monitoring covers all regions and is carried out in accordance with international standards.

Analysis of the messages received showed that mainly side effects are detected for antibacterial (42.1%), antiviral drugs (13.7%). This is followed by immunomodulating drugs (4.6%), drugs that promote and / or prevent blood clotting (4.6%).

“With the outbreak of the pandemic, many of our citizens independently and uncontrollably took medicines themselves and gave them to their children. Not everyone knows that this can subsequently lead to a decrease in their sensitivity to drugs. The number of complaints received about adverse reactions for 8 months of this year is less than for the same period last year - then about 1.5 thousand applications were received. This does not mean that citizens have begun to consume less drugs. It is known that during the period of strict quarantine measures, visits to polyclinics were limited, where usually patients, together with the attending physician, fill out a "yellow" card on the Center's website. If you have any complaints about any drug, we strongly recommend contacting your clinic and report an adverse reaction to the drug, ”said Bayan Moldakhmetova, Deputy Director General for Medicines, NCELS.

Recall that the website of the National Center for Expertise of Medicines and Medical Devices www.ndda.kz contains a message card that, together with the attending physician, can be filled out by citizens who have received unwanted reactions to the use of medicines. The card must indicate all known side effects of the drug, as well as actions not specified in the instructions for medical use, low efficacy or lack of therapeutic effect, suspicion of overdose.
