In the New Year without increasing the tariff for light!

In the New Year without increasing the tariff for light!

A number of media outlets and social networks reported that electricity has become more expensive in 2020 compared to 2019.

I would like to inform you that there was indeed a rise in price, but once again I would like to recall the reasons for these increases.

In general, the increase in the tariffs of stations for electricity production during this period was twice and by an average of 32.7%, namely:

- in 2019, the growth averaged 15.7% with the entry into force from October 1, 2019 by order of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 313 of September 23, 2019;

- in 2020, the growth averaged 17% with the entry into force from July 1, 2020 by order of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 243 dated June 29, 2020.

Also, at the end of 2019, by order of the Ministry of Energy, the cost of services for ensuring the readiness of electric power to carry the load (capacity market) increased by 30% (from 613,413 to 799,869 tenge/MW), which also affected the tariff growth in 2019.

These tariff increases affected the final tariff for consumers, which the efforts of the Committee for the Regulation of Natural Monopolies managed to contain, that is, the increase for the population was below the level of the increase in the cost of electricity production.

At the same time, the share of electricity production in the structure of the final price for electric energy is almost 60%.

I would also like to remind you that during the state of emergency in Kazakhstan, the electricity tariff for the population was reduced by 5%.

At the same time, we inform you that the transition from 2020 to 2021 occurred without raising tariffs for the population.
