An incident at a tire recycling plant in the city of Taldykorgan

On August 25 of the current year, at 3 hours 25 minutes, in the city of Taldykorgan on Medeu Street 3, on the territory of the workshop for processing automobile tires belonging to Eco service Arman LLP, there was a fire of tires stored under a canopy with an area of 80 sq.m., as well as a fire of a pyrolysis plant for processing rubber waste.

As a result of the fire, three people were injured, who were taken to a multi-specialty hospital in the city of Taldykorgan with various degrees of burns.

Employees of the Department of the Industrial Safety Committee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Almaty region were promptly sent to the scene of the incident in order to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

During the inspection of the scene and the preliminary interview of eyewitnesses, it was established that a pop occurred when the pyrolysis plant caught fire (a phenomenon in which the pressure increases, causing sound effects, but no damage is observed). The cause of the explosion could be the accumulation of pyrolysis (associated) gas, while the characteristic signs of structural integrity destruction, hull ruptures, etc. indicating an explosion were not established.

In accordance with the Labor Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, within the scope of its powers, the Department has sent a specialist to participate in the work of the commission for the investigation of an accident related to labor activity.
