Open championship on blitz chess was held in Kostanay

Akim of the Kostanay region Archimed Mukhambetov opened the blitz chess championship. The championship was traditionally held in the Ufimtsev chess club. Over 50 chess players gathered from all over the region to take part in the open championship, which this year was held for the cup of the Akim Archimed Mukhambetov. The chess square was opened next to the regional Akimat on the occasion of the current championship.

“The competitors of the region show good results at the republican competitions. This is also indicated by their results in such tournaments and championships. For example, our competitor Timur Nurzhanov became the champion of the republic among competitors up to 20 years old. He is also among the 5 best Asian chess players. We are also happy for the achievements of another competitor, Alrami Aldabergenov, who also won a prize in the national championship. And you all know perfectly well about Petr Kostenko. Literally in August, he returned from the Asian Championships. The most important thing for us is to create all conditions for chess players. In general, for today we have 30% of the population in sport. This trend needs to be developed further”, the head of the region noted.

This year, the prize fund is KZT 500 thousand. According to the organizers, the competitions were held among different age players. Only 11 rounds, 3 minutes 2 seconds for each round. It should be noted, that in December 2018, an Open Republican Chess Championship is planned in Astana. Chingiskhan Sarzhanov and Petr Kostenko will present the region at this championship.
