Kostanay enterprise Melitopolskoe LLP intends to grow high-protein wheat and export it to European countries. Akim of the region Archimed Mukhambetov visited the enterprise during a working trip to the Sarikol district.
The enterprise was founded in 2015, but has already been showing high yield. Thus, the average farm yield was 18.7 hundredweights per hectare last year. This year the pace is not expected to slow down. The farm includes more than 12 thousand hectares of agricultural land, the same amount of arable land. “We use modern vertical tillage, and, in general, the farm is fully provided with modern machinery. This year, 8,900 hectares of summer wheat were planted. Now we are heading for high-protein wheat, we sowed 8 varieties of wheat. This year, for the first time, we provide elevator only with the third class of wheat with gluten 24 and above”, director of LLP Eduard Dvurechensky said. The main marketing task of the enterprise, according to Dvurechensky, is to grow wheat with 14-15% protein. This kind of wheat appeared to have an export potential: these varieties, if imported into Europe, are not subject to duty. Now the enterprise is negotiating with European countries. According to the head of the enterprise, in Kazakhstan, KZT 50-55 thousand is offered per ton of its wheat. Regional Akim Archimed Mukhambetov noted that such a price per ton of quality wheat is too low, and recommended not to hurry with its sale.
“We need to keep it now, dry the grain. Then, go to the market. It is not advisable to hurry up with its sale. Because there is a demand for exports, Turkey and other countries are interested in buying. Moreover, the Food Corporation has not yet announced a purchase price, which will be known only within the next 2-3 weeks. Therefore, we need to proceed from this. Or you can undersell”, the head of the region advised. This year, according to the regional Akim, in neighboring Russia, the harvest will not be as rich as last year. Therefore, this year Kazakhstan wheat is likely to be in price, and maybe even imported by Russia. In general, about 82% of the area has already been harvested in the district. It is intended to harvest oil-yielding fields after harvesting the wheat. The total capacity of grain storage silos and storage facilities - 786 thousand tons. For today, there are also 30 units of grain drying units in the district. Archimed Mukhambetov also met agricultural producers of the region during the trip and instructed the pace of the harvesting campaign not to be slowed down, since there is a backlog from the plan in comparison with the last year. The head of the region also recommended increasing the area for oilseeds in future years. A. Mukhambetov used as an example the North Kazakhstan region. “In the northern districts of the region we need to increase the area for oilseeds as well. Today KZT 120 thousand is offered per ton. Therefore, it is necessary to be increased. Neighboring North Kazakhstan region increased the oilseed fields to 1 million hectares. We only have about half a million hectares of oilseed fields. Next year, it is necessary to increase to 700-800 thousand hectares, and reduce grain to 3.5 million hectares. These indicators will be optimal for our region”, A. Mukhambetov concluded after the meeting with the agrarians.
