Archimed Mukhambetov commented on the situation with the repair of the mosque building in Kostanay

During the meeting, the Akim of the Kostanay region Archimed Mukhambetov informed about the future of the 125-year-old building of the Kostanay mosque “Maral Ishan” or “Ak Meshit”, as it is called by the local population.

According to the head of the Regional Department of Culture Yerlan Kalmakov, last year the Department and the Muslim Spiritual Authority of Kazakhstan, which has the building on its balance sheet, decided to transfer the building to the balance sheet of the Museum of Local History. The transfer process, as noted by Ye. Kalmakov, took almost a year.

This was done for the further organization of construction and installation works, which are necessary for the 125-year-old building of the mosque. According to the preliminary data of the Department, the reconstruction can be completed by the end of next year. Akim of the region Archimed Mukhambetov commented on this situation. “We opened a new mosque a year and a half ago. It is larger in capacity than the old one. The mosque “Maral Ishan” or “Akmeshit” was on the balance sheet of the Muslim Spiritual Authority of Kazakhstan. We could not repair it, because it was on their balance sheet. Repair has not been done there not because of their will, but because of their incapacity. The wear is high”, Akim of the region noted. - “The process of transfer from the balance sheet of the Muslim Spiritual Authority of Kazakhstan to us continued for a year.

Now I instruct not only to prepare design and estimate documentation, but also develop a road map and give it for approval in the coming days. Whenever you develop the design and estimate documentation, pass the expertise, the construction and installation work will be done and the building will be repaired. As a result, we will receive a new building. We will solve its further purpose together with the Muslim Spiritual Authority of Kazakhstan. But, I should say right away, that the building will serve religious purposes. We will consult and take a decision together.” It is to be recalled that, as previously reported, the building of the mosque “Maral Ishan” located in the center of Kostanay has not been functioning for two years. Due to lack of funds for overhaul, the Muslim Spiritual Authority of Kazakhstan decided to transfer the building to the balance sheet of local authorities. Later, the situation with the transfer of the Kostanay central mosque “Maral Ishan” to the Museum of Local History was commented on by the naib-imam of the regional mosque Bakhytbek Tazhimbet.
