RESIDENTS OF KOSTANAY REGION, AFFECTED BY FLOOD, RECEIVED KEYS TO NEW APARTMENTS

Today in the city of Arkalyk, which was one of the first in the Kostanay region to survive the flood, the keys to new apartments were handed over to the affected families. The apartments were purchased using funds from the republican budget. A total of 27 applications were received from residents of the villages of Ekidin and Kyzylzhuldyz, who informed the authorities of their desire to move from the village to the city.
Three large families received three- and four-room apartments today.
Akim of the region Kumar Aksakalov personally congratulated the new settlers, presented them with plasma TVs and carpets, wishing them warmth, comfort and great family happiness in the new place.
“On behalf of the Head of State, work is being carried out in the Kostanay region to ensure the safety of citizens and solve problems related to compensation for damage from floods. Let peace and tranquility reign in your families, and let adversity pass you by,” the head of the region congratulated the owners of the new housing. “Together we went through a great misfortune, together we made it through.” Now the situation is stabilizing, commissions are working to assess the damage, people are receiving compensation and new housing. You will be among the first recipients of apartments. I'm very happy about this. I’m glad that you made the right decision and moved to a safer and more comfortable place.”
The father of a large family that moved into a four-room apartment, Bagdat Tubekov, spoke about his experience during the flood:
“We don’t have funds to build new housing. We live with our parents and are raising three children. The family is large - 7 people. I immediately sent the women and children to the city. Many thanks to the President of the country - they did not leave us alone with grief, measures were taken very quickly. The children were placed in school No. 5, provided with all the stationery and lunches. We immediately received compensation in the amount of 100 thousand tenge and one-time assistance in the amount of 180 thousand tenge. And today my family moved into a large four-room apartment. Renovated and furnished! I just can’t believe my eyes that she is ours. We are happy!"
The owners of the apartment at 57 Gorbachev Street now call themselves Arkalyk residents; their house in the village of Ekidin was also not spared by the elements. There are seven people in Kenzhetay Esmaganbetov’s family.
“In the very first days after the tragedy, we felt help and care from all government agencies. Two children were immediately sent to a health camp in Almaty. I would like to express my gratitude to the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the fact that decisions regarding the victims were made so quickly. What’s also important is that the authorities gave us the right to choose an apartment, we ourselves found the one we wanted and we really like this three-room apartment.
“To date, agreements have been concluded for the purchase of 27 apartments for a total amount of 370 million tenge, payment is made after completing the registration procedures and the apartments will be transferred into the ownership of the victims free of charge,” said Amirkhan Asanov, mayor of the city of Arkalyk.
It is noted that thanks to state support, 27 families consisting of 151 people, including 55 children, found housing.
The work will continue.
