Akim of the Kostanay region visited the city of Arkalyk

The implementation of a breakthrough investment project for the construction of the meat processing complex in the city of Arkalyk for the southern regions comes into action. The Akim of the Kostanay region Archimed Mukhambetov tested the project’s readiness for launch during his working trip to the city of Arkalyk.

In the course of the so-called cold launch of the meat-processing complex, trial products of sausage and canned goods were produced. The regional Akim congratulated on a successful launch and reminded that this was the first stage. At the second stage of the project - it is planned to build a feedlot for three thousand heads of cattle by October next year. In addition, several service procurement centers will be created in the southern regions, which will be engaged in the procurement of meat for the processing complex. They will be equipped with refrigeration equipment for the safety of products.

By the example of this project, we can talk about the prospect of creating a full-fledged production cluster in the city of Arkalyk. At the first stage, about KZT 2 billion was invested in its implementation. Out of them, according to the Akim the city of Arkalyk Eldar Kuzenbayev, KZT 500 million was raised from the financial resources of Tobol agricultural production co-operative. In addition, KZT 84 million was raised as part of the state support for the construction of the municipal infrastructure. In the course of the project implementation, new shops and other production facilities were reconstructed and constructed, equipment for slaughter, sausage, canning shops and cold rooms were installed. Equipment and machines at the new production are from leading manufacturers of Poland, China and Ukraine, the production process is automated to the maximum. According to the director of Torgay Et LLP Rasul Mukanov, some of the staff were trained in working with new equipment under the guidance of Polish specialists during the installation of equipment. Today, the new production employs about seventy people. By 2020, with reaching the design capacity, the staff of the meat-processing complex will increase to 110 - 120 people.

At the second stage of the project implementation it is planned to use an additional KZT one billion. The meat processing plant, with an output at the design capacity, will allow annual procession of up to one thousand tons of meat, up to 500 tons of sausage products, 350 tons of canned food and 150 tons of semi-finished products. However, the potential of the meat-processing complex is not limited to this. According to the forecast of the head of the region A. Mukhambetov, the new investment project will give impetus to the development of the livestock industry not only for a single Arkalyk region, but also for the neighboring southern districts of the Kostanay region and even the bordering Karaganda and Akmola regions. It was not by chance that numerous delegations from the Ulutau and Nura districts of the Karaganda region, the Zharkain and Yesil districts of the Akmola region, and the Amangeldy, Zhangeldy and Nauruzum districts of the Kostanay region attended the launch. Livestock farms in these regions are potential suppliers of raw materials for new production.

Speaking about the advantage of the project of Torgay Et LLP, the Akim of the region cited the geographical factor as the main argument. The city of Arkalyk is located in the center of the cattle-breeding region and has real chances to become a major meat processing center. At the same time, the Akim did not fail to emphasize that he closely links the solution to the problem of transport logistics with the implementation of this project. According to him, work is underway at the level of republican agencies to promote the project of reconstruction of the section of the Zhezkagan-Petropavlovsk highway, which would provide transport links to the Zhezkagan and Akmola regions.

However, the Akim sees not only the neighboring regions and the capital Astana, but even China as attractive sales markets for the products of the meat-processing complex. Therefore, he instructed the specialists to help the manufacturer with certification of products according to the standards of China in order to be able to easily enter the consumer market of the Celestial Empire. In addition, according to him, the possibility of supplying canned products for the needs of the Ministry of Defense is being considered.
