A new stroke center was opened in Kostanay region with the support of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation

The Bulat Utemuratov Foundation has allocated 1 billion tenge for the creation and equipping of a stroke center on the basis of the Auliekol Central District Hospital of Kostanay region. The allocated funds were used to purchase high-precision modern devices for diagnosing disorders of blood supply to the brain, repairs and technical preparation of premises were carried out.

The new stroke center will allow emergency care to reach up to 100 thousand people living in areas remote from the regional center – Auliekolsky, Naurzumsky and Karasu. Previously, residents had to spend several hours on the road to undergo examinations, and during the season of floods and snowfalls, access to qualified assistance became even more complicated.

"In stroke, the speed of diagnosis and medical care is critically important, since timely treatment significantly increases the percentage of recovery. We are glad to receive new equipment, now we will be able to independently conduct diagnostic examinations and start treatment without wasting time. In addition, we have deployed 300 beds for patients, so that residents of our district will be able to receive all the necessary assistance in one place," said Sergey Shulgin, chief physician of the Auliekol Central Hospital

The diagnostic department of the stroke center consists of a CT scanner and an angiograph manufactured by General Electric HealthCare. The high-performance CT scanner has a low radiation load and can be used to diagnose patients with metal implants.  Thanks to the use of modern solutions, doctors have the opportunity to perform more research in less time and manage the flow of patients more efficiently. The angiograph is designed for studies of blood vessels and supports the possibility of their visualization at a large viewing angle. Currently, all the equipment is installed and tested. The medical staff of the Auliekol hospital is undergoing professional training to work on new devices.

"A modern stroke center will allow emergency assistance to reach the population of areas remote from the regional center, thereby ensuring the timely provision of highly qualified medical care on the principle of the "golden hour". On behalf of myself and the residents of the Auliekolsky district, I express my gratitude to the management and staff of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation for their charitable assistance in the construction of a new modern stroke center. I wish you sustainable development and prosperity," said Kumar Aksakalov, Akim of Kostanay region.
