Information on the demographic situation in Kostanay region and its ethnic composition as of January 1, 2023
As of January 1, 2023, the population of the region was 832,237 people or 4.2% of the national figure (RK – 19.8 million people). Compared to last year, the number decreased by 3,449 people or 0.4% (over the past decade, the decrease was 48,731 people or 5.5%).
The urban population of our region prevails – 61.9% (515,243 people).
The largest number in the regional center is 264,446 people (31.8%), the smallest is in the Naurzum district 9,194 people (1.1%).
More than 100 nationalities and nationalities live in the region. The main share of the population is Kazakhs – 44.4%, Russians – 33.6%, Ukrainians – 10.4%, Germans – 3.7%, Belarusians – 1.9%, Tatars – 1.7%, other nationalities - 4.3%.
The population density is 4.2 people per square kilometer. The cities of Kostanay, Rudny and Lisakovsk are the most densely populated, the least are the southern districts of the region, the density of which ranges from 0.3 to 2.5 people per square kilometer.
