information on the demographic situation in Kostanay region and its ethnic composition as of January 1, 2021
As of January 1, 2021, the population of the region was 864,550 people, or 4.6% of the national indicator (RK – 18.8 million people). Compared to last year, the number decreased by 3,999 people or by 0.5% (over the past decade, the decrease was 17,106 people or by 2.0%).
The urban population of our region prevails-58.4% (504,909 people).
The largest number is in the regional center – 251,825 people (29.1%), the smallest is in the Naurzum district-10,123 people (1.2%).
More than 100 nationalities and nationalities live on the territory of the region. The main share of the population is Kazakhs-41.5%, Russians-40.6%, Ukrainians-7.9%, Germans-3.1%, Tatars-1.8%, Belarusians-1.4%, other nationalities-3.7%.
The population density is 4.4 people per square kilometer. The most densely populated cities are Kostanay, Rudny and Lisakovsk, the least-the southern regions of the region, the density of which is from 0.4 to 0.8 people per square kilometer.
