Information on environmental quality targets
In accordance with Article 37 of the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the local executive bodies of the regions are required to develop environmental quality targets (hereinafter referred to as CPKOS) for each five–year period.
Target indicators are understood as a set of quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the state of individual components of the environment and other indicators that characterize the level of environmental protection measures and effective waste management that must be achieved over a certain period of time.
The previously existing CPCOS for the Kostanay region for the period 2019- 2021, approved by the decision of the Kostanay regional Maslikhat No. 389 of 15.05.2019, have been achieved.
The State Institution «Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management of the Akimat of Kostanay Region» signed an agreement in October 2022 with «GAZPOL» LLP to develop a draft of environmental quality targets for Kostanay region for 2024-2028. The deadline for the completion of the work, according to the contract, is until September 1, 2023. Then a procedure will be carried out for the approval of the CPCOS by local representative bodies, in accordance with the current legislation.
