Information on the implementation of the state social order «Promotion of separate collection of solid household waste»
Purpose: To inform the population about the need for separate collection of solid household waste (MSW) to increase the share of waste disposal and reduce the volume of their disposal in the environment.
Target groups: all categories of the population, including students and students of educational institutions. The number of beneficiaries is at least 1,000 people.
Project area: Kostanay region: the cities of Kostanay, Rudny, Lisakovsk, Zhitikara, Arkalyk, Tobol, as well as Kostanay, Auliekolsky, Denisovsky, Uzunkolsky, Fedorovsky, Karabalyksky, Sarykolsky, B. Mailina, Mendykarinsky, Altynsarinsky districts.
The project was implemented by the Republican Fund of the Youth Wing "Zhas Otan" by order of the State Institution "Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management of the Akimat of Kostanay region", according to the agreement No. 49 dated 13.05.2022 in the period May – November 2022.
Within the framework of the state social order, the following events were held:
A training was held for eco-volunteers on the topic "Separate collection of solid household waste". The speaker at this training was the founder of the ecological club "Neco" Nauryzbek Birmagambetov. During the training, eco-volunteers were trained, who were taught the principle of separate waste collection for the purpose of further propaganda among the population.
Within the framework of the project, the design of electronic booklets has been developed, which are posted on social networks and on the websites of government agencies.
Printed posters of A3 format in the amount of 100 pieces were also produced for placement in educational institutions of the region. All posters and booklets are equipped with QR codes, by scanning which you can automatically go to the customer's website and get more information. Posters were placed on the stands of
educational institutions of the region: schools – 50, colleges – 12, universities – 5.
Within the framework of the project, 4 excursions to landfills and 3 excursions to waste recycling enterprises for students of schools, colleges and universities were organized. In total, 140 people were covered by the excursions. During the project period, excursions were conducted to the following enterprises: LLP "Tazalyk – 2012", LLP "Atameken 4+", LLP "Sotsservice", LLP "Ecoprom", LLP "Nonwoven fabric Factory "S.M.F. - System".
Information campaigns on the topic "Promotion of the idea of separate waste collection" were held in educational institutions of cities and districts of the region. During the actions, the students were shown videos on the relevant topic, after which an analysis of the videos viewed and a Question-and-Answer session were conducted with the students, where the children asked their questions concerning the preservation of the environment and the need for separate waste collection.
Within the framework of the project, two videos were developed, including one animated, lasting 40 seconds each. The videos were broadcast for two months on the QOSTANAI TV channel and on the LED screen (Kostanay). The videos are also posted on official accounts in social networks of mass media and government agencies. The plot of the video shows the statistics of the annual volume of garbage collected in the Kostanay region. It also explains the correct sorting of waste, provides examples of the production of products from secondary raw materials.
In the period from September to October 2022, a video contest on separate waste collection was held among the schools of the region. According to the results of the competition, 9 participants were awarded valuable prizes (1,2,3 places among junior, middle and senior students).

On the territory of the cities of Kostanay, Rudny, Tobol, an action was held to collect electronic and electrical equipment among educational institutions. 12 educational institutions took part in the action. The total volume of assembled electrical equipment was 1326 kg. All the collected electrical equipment was transferred to EkoLabRecycling LLP, engaged in waste recycling. Three educational institutions that delivered a larger volume of electrical equipment were awarded diplomas and valuable prizes.
A competition was also held to collect waste paper among the educational institutions of the region. 21 educational institutions took part in the competition and handed over a total of 1247 kg of waste paper. The entire collected volume of waste paper was accepted by Atameken 4+ LLP. Valuable prizes were awarded to 3 educational institutions that took 1,2,3 places.

Information about the project was posted in the media, including: 5 articles in print and electronic media, 3 TV stories, 5 publications in social networks of regional media.
To highlight the project, a landing page was created on the social network Instagram, where all materials from the events held and media files developed during the project are posted.

A debate tournament on the topic "Promotion of separate collection of solid household waste" was held among students of schools, colleges and universities of the region. 20 educational institutions took part in the tournament. By participating in the debate, students can understand how relevant the issue of waste recycling is. During the tournaments, the speakers showed their oratorical skills, awareness and ability to convince. The winners of the tournament were awarded with gifts corresponding to the theme of the project.
Following the results of all the events, a round table was held with the participation of competent state bodies, representatives of non-governmental organizations, economic entities in the field of waste management. During the event, a presentation was presented with a brief description of all the events held, and the winners of the competition were awarded.
The total coverage of the Project, which forms environmental awareness, amounted to 27,352 people, of which the majority are young people.
