On April 18, 2020, a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan was detained at the “Kurmangazy” checkpoint (automobile) by the Border Service Department of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Atyrau Region. The person was arrested for the export of 20 tons of “roach” fish on false documentation for a total amount of 14,000,000 (fourteen million) tenge.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 335 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (illegal extraction of fish resources, other aquatic animals or plants), in the framework of which pre-trial investigative measures are carried out.
