KAIRAT, REX AND SOLDIER RECORDS

KAIRAT, REX AND SOLDIER RECORDS

Sergeant Kairat Rakhimzhanov and his faithful dog Rex were sent to the temporary border post «Kazankol», which at that time was headed by Major V. Lutovinov. The mountainous, remote, impassable places were chosen by the collectors of medicinal herbs and roots who came from behind the cordon. And although «green caps» were always on duty here in summer, there were never fewer people wishing to illegally take advantage of the gifts of nature on a foreign territory.

The first detention of border violators for Kairat Rakhimzhanov was remembered for its unexpected transience: the border guard came across two men digging in the ground. Seeing a border guard with a dog, they were so confused that they did not even try to run. The root gatherers were caught red-handed.

The events that followed were more dynamic and dramatic. Rex, already accustomed to almost daily pursuit, which is called rushing into battle.

I remember one incident at the border, then the dog was at its best. The outfit, led by Lieutenant N. Ismagambetov walked along the river bed. Suddenly the border guards noticed some movement in the bushes. The lieutenant sent the sergeant and the dog around. Kairat Rakhimzhanov, carrying out a maneuver, came across an intruder. Rex reacted instantly, dumping the intruder to the ground in a leap.

Having tied the hands of the detainee, the counselor intended to continue on his way to complete the maneuver. But the shepherd was in no hurry to obey, it behaved uneasily, clearly showing that it had to go in a different direction. The dog was right, the second intruder was lying in the bushes, and Rex pulled him out, grabbing him by the leg.

Sergeant Kairat Rakhimzhanov met his future partner Rex in the Zharkent border detachment after graduating from the courses of the Central Kennel of Service Dogs of the Border Guard Service. The guy always dreamed of serving on the border, the military commissar was impressed by his dedication, sometimes turning into persistence. Of course, they went to meet him, and identified a strong, tall guy in the team of border guards.

But with four-legged, he somehow did not get along very well, despite the fact that he was assigned a difficult military specialty - a leader of a ser-vice dog. Already at the first meeting, the German shepherd sensed that the future owner was clearly afraid.

Science knows for sure that dogs, even very smart ones, do not know how to make conclusions. But, Rex clearly decided to become a leader himself, showing hostility to the counselor and showing that he is more important here. The sergeant had to overcome fear and begin to fight for his authority.

Kairat thought about this almost all the time - while eating, going to sleep and waking up. And over time, he managed to establish contact with the dog. Gradually, the pet moved from hostility to respect, and then to love for its owner.

- Rex is a very smart dog, he instantly takes the trail, seriously fulfills my commands, and he also likes to be praised, - Kairat shared with his colleagues. – It is looking forward to its owner, knowing that first there will be training, then cleaning and bathing. All this gives the dog great pleasure. When I am in a bad mood, he feels it and will certainly show his participa-tion by touching me with his paw or carefully looking into my eyes.

During three months of service at the border post, Kairat Rakhim-zhanov, together with his four-legged partner, detained 27 border violators; as a result, they earned several awards from the command, including a short-term home leave.

Many years have passed since 2004, when the described events developed. To the great regret of everyone at the outpost, Rex in 2005 in the next border guard died as a result of a poisonous snake bite. Having lost his faithful dog, the counselor grieved very much.

When Kairat ended his soldier’s term, he returned home, but three years later he was called up for contract service in the Usharal border detachment. At the frontier posts «19 patrol» and «Chulak» he acted as an instructor of service dogs. Several more successful arrests were added to his combat score. But after five years of service with his dog, due to family reasons, Kairat resigned to «civilian life».

At home he took up agriculture. But with his dog he helps the local police service in hot pursuit of criminals. On their account there are suspects of murder and theft.

Over time, Kairat got married, he has five children. The reserve ser-geant is proud of his service at the border, often recalls the memory of commanders and comrades in arms. With special warmth, he recalls his faithful dog Rex - a real four-legged border guard who reliably guarded the border.
