Suppression of Criminal Group in the Atyrau Region

On July 5, 2021, the NSC Department for the Atyrau region, together with the prosecutor's office and the regional police department, suppressed the illegal activities of an organized criminal group consisting of representatives of the sports environment and adherents of destructive religious movements.

For a long time, the members of the group have been extorting money from the drivers of fixed-route taxi ("Atyrau-Uralsk-Atyrau"), incl. under the threat of physical violence.

4 active members of the organized criminal group were detained. At the place of residence of the defendants and their close ties, 3 units of various types of weapons and ammunition were found and seized, as well as documentary materials (checks, magazines, bank cards) confirming their criminal activities.

On this fact, a pre-trial investigation was initiated under Part 2 of Article 194 (extortion) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The leader of the group was placed in a pre-trial detention center, the rest are under recognizance not to leave.
