Border Guards Prevent Drug Smuggling

On January 26, 2021, the Department of the Border Service of the National Security Committee (NSC) of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Turkestan region prevented the smuggling of drugs at the “Zhibek Zholy” checkpoint.

A citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan was detained in the hall at the entrance direction by the border guard "Control over the regime" using the service dog "Linda". As a result, a herbal narcotic substance was found on the human body.

The examination established that the seized substance is a narcotic drug "raw opium" weighing 236 grams, which is a particularly large size.

This fact is registered in the unified registry of pre-trial investigations according to paragraph 5, part 2, article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The territorial subdivisions of the Border Service of the NSC are focused on strengthening control at checkpoints in order to prevent the import/export of narcotic (psychotropic) substances.
