The Ministry of Transport and JSC NC KTZ have been launched a pilot project to automate railway transit, which is the automatic submission and issuance of transit declarations for goods transported by rail along the China– Central Asia and China–Europe routes. This was announced by Vice Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Birzhanov during a press conference at the Central Communications Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The pilot aims at transparency, acceleration and simplification of customs procedures, as well as optimization and improvement of railroad traffic through transit routes.
- exclusion of corruption risks at checkpoints;
- it will simplify the process of customs declaration of transit by introducing automatic registration and issuing transit declarations;
- reducing customs clearance time for one container train from 3 hours to 30 minutes;
- eliminate marking on paper documents and ensure a gradual transition to electronic workflow during rail transportation;
This increases the transit potential of the State and will bring Kazakhstan to development of its position as a transit hub in Eurasia.
