Starting from January 1, 2023, a progressive scale of the digital mining fee rate will be applied in Kazakhstan. The graduation rate will depend on the cost of electricity consumed. This was reported in the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On July 11, 2022, amendments to the Tax Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan were signed, providing for an increase in the fee rate for digital mining (ZRK No. 135-VII).
In accordance with the new version of Article 606-3 of the Tax Code, the amount of the fee for digital mining will depend on the cost of the 1st kilowatt-hour of electricity. When using cheap electricity, a high fee rate will be applied, the upper scale of which reaches 25 tenge.
In the case of using expensive electricity, the cost per 1 kilowatt-hour from 24 tenge and above, the minimum fee rate of 1 tenge will be applied.
In addition, when using renewable sources of electric energy produced at own power plants, the fee rate is 1 tenge per 1 kilowatt-hour of consumed electric energy.
When using its own electric energy, the fee is calculated at the rate of 10 tenge per 1 kilowatt-hour.
In the absence of control devices for measuring the volume of electricity consumption or finding them in a faulty state, the fee is calculated at the rate of 25 tenge per 1 kilowatt-hour.
In this case, the amount of electrical energy consumed is calculated from the calculation of the round-the-clock consumption of the maximum power of electrical energy.
It should be taken into account that if there are several reasons for applying different fee rates at the same time, the highest fee rate is applied.
