Cars imported from third countries can be operated only after customs clearance

Recently, cases of temporary importation of vehicles for personal use by foreign citizens staying in Kazakhstan have become more frequent. They are mostly citizens of Georgia and Azerbaijan.

 

After that, the vehicle is transferred "into the possession" of a citizen of our country.

 

It should be noted that temporarily imported vehicles into the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), from third countries, are foreign goods and are under customs control (third countries are countries that are not part of the EAEU).

 

The SRC warns citizens of Kazakhstan that it is possible to purchase temporarily imported vehicles, as well as to operate such vehicles on the territory of Kazakhstan only after customs clearance and, accordingly, payment of the customs duties and taxes due.

 

It is observed that after the import of foreign vehicles for personal use, foreign persons who have imported their vehicles leave the territory of Kazakhstan after a certain time.

 

That is, this gives reason to believe that these vehicles were brought to the territory of the EAEU for the purpose of transferring them to a Kazakh person.

 

At the end of the temporary import period (this is 1 year), cars must leave the territory of the EAEU, and if cars are not exported, appropriate measures will be taken in accordance with the current legislation of the EAEU.

 

The Committee organized raid events together with the Police Departments and, in accordance with the current legislation, such vehicles will be detained.

 

To date, 116 vehicles have already been transferred to temporary storage warehouses. Work in this direction continues.

 

In this regard, the SRC of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan asks citizens of Kazakhstan, when purchasing a car for personal use, to comply with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 

If you doubt the origin or legality of the purchased car, then you can find out whether the customs clearance has been completed and, accordingly, whether the customs duties and taxes due in Kazakhstan have been paid in the state revenue authorities.
