From January 1, 2022, the threshold for registration as a value-added tax payer has been lowered from 30,000 to 20,000 times the monthly calculation index (MCI). This was reported in the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan
The minimum turnover for VAT registration was 20,000 times the amount of the MCI established by the Law on the Republican Budget and effective as of January 1 of the corresponding fiscal year.
In 2022, the MCI is set at 3,063 tenge, therefore, the minimum turnover for VAT registration was 61,260,000 tenge. Earlier, in 2021, the threshold was 30,000 times the size of the MCI, respectively - 87,510,000 tenge.
In this regard, the State Revenue Committee urges taxpayers to register as a VAT payer in a timely manner.
For sole proprietors applying a special tax on the basis of a simplified declaration, it is possible to increase the threshold for setting as a VAT payer.
To do this, it is necessary to use a three-component integrated system (TIS).
What is the advantage of using TIS for sole proprietors?
The VAT threshold has been increased from 20,000 MCI to 134,184 MCI, that is, from 61.2 million tenge to 411 million tenge. However, it should be taken into account that this increase applies only to turnover carried out in non-cash form (that is, settlements with customers via bank cards) using TIS.
Thus, sole proprietors applying the SNR on the basis of a simplified declaration have the opportunity to apply the TIS and not to register for VAT.
What do I need to use TIS?
First, go to the website of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan by the link http://kgd.gov.kz/ru/content/edinyy-reestr-trehkomponentnyh-integrirovannyh-sistem-1 and choose the YEW model.
Second, contact the TIS developer to install the TIS.
Third, go to the taxpayer's office, select the appropriate application form, fill out and register the TIS with the state revenue authorities.
