Since October 1, 2020, mandatory labeling has been introduced for cigarettes with a filter, and from April 1, 2021 - for other types of tobacco products. All cigarettes produced on the territory of Kazakhstan or imported to the Republic of Kazakhstan are marked with digital stamps. At the same time, according to the tax legislation, the costs of producers can be deducted by depreciation deductions.

Currently labeled tobacco products and alcoholic beverages are not a new phenomenon. For more than 20 years, they have been designated by paper stamps (excise stamp and accounting and control stamp). The country is only switching to the digital format, which reduces the cost of excisable products.
