Kazakhstan is building a school in Turkey: KazAID construction operator

On 19 December 2024 in the city of Nurdagi, Gaziantep Province, Republic of Turkey, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the school, the construction of which was initiated by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Gaziantep Province is one of the most affected regions by the devastating earthquake that occurred on 6 February 2023. KazAID has been appointed as the operator of the construction of the school, which will become a symbol of Turkish-Kazakh brotherhood.

The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Turkey Mr. Yerkebulan Sapiyev, the Governor of Gaziantep Province Kemal Çeber, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education of Turkey and KazAID.

Earlier, Türkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed gratitude to Kazakhstan for its support at the summit of the Organisation of Turkic States, noting:

"I am confident that this school will become one of the symbols of Turkish-Kazakh brotherhood to which future generations will be faithful. In the current global environment, the countries of the Turkic world must strengthen their cooperation. Kazakhstan has taken important steps, and this construction is a vivid confirmation of that."

As of 19 December 2024, preparatory work for excavation and mobilisation of construction resources has been completed.

The construction of a school in Gaziantep province is a significant contribution by Kazakhstan to the reconstruction of the region most severely affected by the earthquake and a shining example of the implementation of official development assistance.
