New phase of the “Avicenna: healthcare” programme: training for the teachers from Central Asia

The «Avicenna: healthcare» programme will now be held annually and, in addition to training students, will include training for the teachers from Central Asia. The second implementation of the programme will take place from 16 to 20 September 2024. Teachers from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have been invited to participate. The programme will be organised on a grant basis thanks to a grant provided by KazAID.

KazAID is implementing the programme jointly with Astana Medical University and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency “TIKA”. Training will be provided by Kazakhstan and international experts, which highlights the aspiration for the professional development of teachers and the promotion of regional cooperation in the field of medical education.

August 14, 2024 – KazAID invited representatives of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in RK, the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in RK, a representative of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency “TIKA”, and a representative of the Astana Medical University to present the “Avicenna: healthcare” programme.

Previously, in April 2024, 17 students from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan were trained in the framework of the “Avicenna: healthcare” programme, which included a two-week course at the Astana Medical University and a cultural program to get acquainted with the city.

This initiative demonstrates Kazakhstan’s aspiration to strengthen academic ties and support young healthcare specialists in Central Asia.
