Today, Kazakhstan Agency of International Development "KazAID" and the National Volunteer Network (NVN) signed a memorandum of cooperation, officially confirming their commitment to strengthen partnership and joint activities.
The National Volunteer Network (NVN), founded in 2010, is a significant platform uniting volunteers and volunteer organizations from all over the country. KazAID is interested in the participation of volunteers in various projects aimed at official assistance to the development of Central Asia. Volunteer participation plays a key role in providing humanitarian aid and supporting socially-oriented initiatives in areas such as health, education and environmental protection in partner countries.
In Kazakhstan, more than 30,000 people participate in volunteer projects across the country every year, with more than 2,500 volunteers in the city of Astana. The average age of volunteers is about 35 years old. We are confident that the joint efforts of KazAID and the National Volunteer Network will make a significant contribution to social development and strengthening of Kazakhstan's cooperation with partner countries for development.
Let us remind that on the initiative of Kazakhstan the UN General Assembly proclaimed 2026 as the International Year of Volunteers. This initiative was announced by the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev from the rostrum of the UN in 2020.
