Since 2015, the Republic of Kazakhstan has annually submitted aggregated reports on the volume of official development assistance to the OECD Development Assistance Committee.
According to preliminary estimates, the volume of assistance in 2022 amounted to more than 36.86 million US dollars, including mandatory and voluntary contributions to international organizations, technical and humanitarian assistance and educational grants.
In 2022, Kazakhstan provided most of its ODA on a bilateral basis. Gross bilateral ODA amounted to 36.86 million US dollars or 90% of the total amount of ODA. Kazakhstan allocated 3.62 million US dollars or 10% of the total amount of ODA through multilateral channels respectively.
According to statistics from the OECD DAC, Kazakhstan’s ODA in 2021 amounted to 43.5 million US dollars. The reason for the reduction in ODA figures in dollar terms for 2022 compared to 2021 is the depreciation of all reporting currencies (tenge, euro, Swiss franc, pound sterling) against the US dollar, except the Russian ruble.
Forecasting the further development of indicators directly depends on the growth of the republican budget. Nevertheless, a slight increase in technical assistance within the framework of financing KazAID projects can be expected.
